I have recently started frog gigging and I am inexperienced at it. My family owns a decent amount of land and I went gigging on it a few days ago, but I did not see any decent sized frogs. I was talking to my dad and he said that the best place to go is the lake or a place like that. I have the spotlight and gig. He has a boat but will not allow me to use it and he does not want to go with me. My gig is attached to some river cane that is about 8 to 10 feet long. Does anyone have any tips to help me improve?

Also, I live in North Alabama, just in case the region can change.

Another thing, is a fishing license or hunting license required?

We frog gig on the Tallapoosa River. I never frog gigged much when I lived in north Alabama. Just buy you a little Jon boat with a small motor or even a trolling motor and wear em out.

Let the little ones grow and they'll be trophies in a few years.

No Corn either.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Used to do it alot. I used a small to mid-size gig on a 12 pole. Clean farm pods with cattle are not as good as grown up snakey ones. Also we did it in the hot months of summer. We went by boat on the Tenn. river around Scottsboro some, used a .22 with a low power scope and gig. If they were way back in the weeds or catails I'd shoot them then gig or dip them with a small net on a long pole. Lots of fun.

We used to gig in a canoe floating ponds and small lakes. Did a lot here in birmingham area. We used gig pole. Will see a lot of snakes at night.

Is that what you killed your 3 bearded turkey with?
