Those folks are in TExas, I was thinking around the Troy area so I can pick up the block myself.

I gotcha. No telling how much shipping would be on those things.

How about this: http://www.lakemartindock.com/contact.htm

2X4's, plywood, 2-mil thick plastic sheets, and some 2-part urethane 4-lb density foam and make them yourself!

Make sure to take AND SHARE the pics though! laugh

I think on most lakes you can't use them no more. I built a lot of floating docks we use black plastic floats

You can when it's your own pond though.

Plastic Drums with 2-part foam is probably the best route.

You can also fill them 1/4 to 1/2 full with water and a little bleach to prevent bacteria, then seal the bungs up with 5200 marine caulk. Last forever practically.

Skinny, look on CL and see if you can find an old pontoon boat. You can either build your pier over the pontoons or just strip the pontoon down to the deck and use that as your pier.

Why a floating dock? I would rather have a fixed dock in a small pond.

I've built a few floating docks on Lake Eufaula, I can't stand that squeaky up and down stuff, but if the water level fluctuates a lot it is the way to go.

I have a stripped down pontoon boat that I was gonna make a pier out of but haven't got around to it and probably won't anytime soon. It is pretty much two pontoons and a frame. It holds 5 sheets of plywood. I would sell it if that's something you'd be interested in. It is located outside of opp so it wouldn't be too far to haul it. I don't have a trailer to move it but I could try to find one.

Exactly what I helped my uncle do at Lake Martin about 8 years ago... Still goin strong - haven't had any issues and man those things take some abuse during the summer when the lake's got 17000 boats on it every weekend...

I don't know how much they are but have you considered the plastic float containers some dock builders use like Flotation systems in Cullman?
