Bought used golf cart a week ago. Had to install 6 new batteries and they charged it up at the shop. I picked it up Thursday and it ran like a champ. I ran it around for about 10 minutes and parked it. I went to load it up today and it was dead as hell. Key wasn't in it and have no clue what could be causing it to run down. Any suggestions?

Make sure your charger is working, had what looked to be a lead wire in a glass tube break, it didn't separate completely but would barely charge. Take it to the shop and make em test it.

Just about has to be a short "pulling" the batteries down. I'd take it back to the shop and have them put a volt/ohm meter on it. Those things are pretty simple, should be a fairly easy fix.

Did you plug in the charger when you parked it? ALWAYS charge it after every use. If you don't your batteries will fail sooner rather than later.

Does it have aftermarket lights or a radio that may be pulling power?

If there are no aftermarket stuff on it then the battery is shot. Time to get a new one. Most young'uns never seen a glass fuse.

No lights or radio. Will it die even after 10 minutes of use? It sat up for 3 days and loses a charge that fast? WTF?

No they should not rain that fast. Check the voltage of each battery as well as the total pack. I'm betting you have a bad battery. Have you checked the water?

Had the same thing happen to my Stealth Buggy during hunting season. I would charge buggy all night and it would make it 1-2 miles the next day and go dead. Dealer told me the motor was shot and would need to be replaced or rebuilt. He sent motor off for rebuild and company sent it back and said motor was good. Turned out to be the solenoids. Replaced all 3 and buggy was good to go!

This is all speculation until somebody that knows how to use a multimeter looks at it. a battery may be bad or there is too much draw. Charge it check the charging voltage. Run it 10 minutes and check the voltage on each battery. Check the current draw when its just sitting there idle. Depending what you find, you will know where the problem is.

disconnect then reconnect one of the battery cables while at rest. If you see any spark or hear anything while reconnecting, it is drawing current somewhere

Doc... forget all the posts here except the ones telling you to take it back to the shop where you bought it/had batteries installed. Like others have said, there's a variety of things that can be wrong... and the guys at the shop will likely have the experience/tools to get it fixed. To answer your question about how soon the batteries should run down after running it for 10 minutes... absolutely not in three days. In theory, you'll lose a small amount every day... but nowhere near that much. After it gets fixed, always keep it plugged up when you're not using it... your batteries are supposed to last longer doing it that way (vs. running for a few days and then charging them).

took it back to the shop (Battery Source) and he tested it. It was pulling 9 volts. He was stunned. Said it's got to be short pulling the charge off, maybe something with the ignition switch, or God knows what. Super nice guy so I'm gonna give him a shot at trying to fix it. Dropping $630 for brand new batteries and it won't run will PISS you off royally. Thanks for the imput guys.

You need to check them lights and make sure their not pulling power when it's off.Thats the only thing I can think of that might be pulling any kinda juice if they even work.Theres a little switch in that little holder on the left side of the steering wheel I assumed ran the lights.Hope you get it straightened out.
