Gloves or no gloves, I would have gutted it and filled it with ice for the ride home. There is no way for anyone else to tell now if it is okay. You will just have to smell it and see what you think. Your call.

If I had to question it I would let Colbie try it first. If it was as warm at your house as it was at mine last night I would probably let those hams go to the trash pile. If we were talking 2-3 hours then it would be fine. I keep a box of gloves in my truck because I'm not gonna get sick over a nasty ass hog.

I use gloves most of the time. But, I will admit I have dressed probably over a 100 without using them over the years. I don't have many health issues! LOL

I never use gloves when cleaning hogs or deer. Probably should but from what I've read there has never been a case in Alabama where someone contracted anything from hogs. (except for some who were not actually cleaning the hog but I mention names)

How do you tell if it is spoiled by smelling it? Dang thing was rancid right when it was shot. Stinky son of a gun. Boar or sow?

The rear hams boned out is as far as Im going on a hog anyways. I wouldnt split the gut on one if I was starving to death. Id start foraging for insects first. Your name is fitting. Glove are recommended, but you will be fine gutting one without gloves as long as you don't have any open cuts on your hands. Just wash your hands good when your done. I've gutted hundreds with out gloves and never had a problem, but I don't want one either so I use gloves when it's convenient. As far as smelling the meat. You will know spoiled meat when you smell it. It smells like it's starting to rot or spoil. All meat smells like blood but spoiled meat is a different story. Six hours is right on the edge depending on temps. I'd say you'll be fine if it doesn't smell BAD. Next time you can just put some ice on the outside of the hog if you don't want to gut it without gloves and that will start the cooling.
