I skipped last weekend because I was at the beach, but thinking about going this weekend just to say I am turkey hunting and do some deer scouting.

If'n you would have said something earlier I wouldn't have made plans this weekend and came up and went with you. It would be worth the trip just to see a few tracks and feathers. Pretty hills around southern Tn.

Yekrut you should be ashamed. Shooting hens in the fall.

Wheres PCP?

Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

Who said I was gonna shoot hens? Jakes and gobblers are fair game too.

It feels good to have the vest out and shotgun ready for action.

Just think! A gobbler you kill now is another one you won't get to hear gobble this spring! Just imagine watching that full fan and big white head as he struts down the ridge coming in to your calls! You can see every feather on him shake when he drums and hear his wing tips drag through the leaves as he struts in those last few steps! And one last gobble as he looks for the hen. A gobble that seems to make your ribs hurt its so loud.

Wow! I just described what I wait for all year!

No fall turkey hunting for me!

Thanks for that, I will only shoot a hen now smile

More than likely I won't shoot anything even if the opportunity arises, but I will be turkey hunting at least.

I am doing it more to deer scout, I will cover the whole property tomorrow if I am turkey hunting. I won't even go if I am just going to deer hunt.

Didn't do any good, didn't really want to shoot anything anyways with as few birds as I have now. I spent most of the day yesterday hanging out with the boy and didn't go today. Come on spring

Amen! smile

It sure wouldn't be a problem to kill a turkey at the farm right now; they are everywhere. I heard one gobble 3 times Friday morning. The hens were doing a lot of cackling and I guess he can't wait for spring either. Sure hope he will hang around til 3/15.

I'll be out Saturday, and will enthusiastically trade a gobbler now for one in the spring. Each and every year.

Those who don't hunt turkeys in the fall are missing out. I hate to waste time deer hunting when I can be in the woods calling to turkeys with a gun on my knee instead.

I'm stoked about getting out there this weekend...

All my turkey property is in Giles co. I have a ton of land around leoma in Lawrence county but there aren't any birds on it. That is where all our cattle farms are at.
