What's the approximate length of time that a whitetail fawn would keep its spots?

Thanks, Troy. Trying to estimate a conception date. My hunting partner saw a pair of twins, still spotted, this weekend. I was surprised. I would suppose first part of April, maybe....

I'm seeing them without spots now, ours are born 3rd/4th week of July. Saw one with very faint spots and one with none last week. So seeing them gone in 3 months.

I saw a doe with twins with spots yesterday in pike county. They were a lot smaller than the other spots I have seen the last few weeks.

I saw a very spotted fawn yesterday in Tallapoosa County. There are still lots of them out there. I have seen them as late as early Jan. Some are just bad late.

Friday saw a doe with twins both still young with plenty of spots. Saturday saw a doe with just one, probably smallest fawn I've seen hunting. Really don't want to shoot does with fawns that small. I just don't think they're big enough to make it. And with all the thought on coyotes getting deer you hate to kill a doe and take a chance on losing fawns that made it. I'm in Morgan county and for as long as I've hunted the rut starts towards end of January and peaks around February. For these reasons, near 80 degree weather, snakes, and mosquitoes still being out I would like to see all seasons pushed back 2 weeks. I know that everyone doesn't want that and I understand that, just what I think would be best for the areas I hunt.

They seem to rarely lose them here. Damn coyotes eat them before they lose the spots. Two years running that I have no fawn pics after than fawning season. I've only had one fawn picture period in the last 2 years. It was the video of the fawn dropping to the ground that I got in early Sept. Maybe they're still hiding, but I doubt it.

For what it's worth, I asked about how old my buddy thought the fawns were that I referenced earlier. He suggested they were older fawns based on the fact that their spots seemed to be fading, or at least they weren't as prominent as ones he'd seen before. That would probably put conception closer to February than April.

I would like to see more studies done on effective ways to get rid of coyotes. Maybe a bounty paid on every coyote tail or something to encourage trapping them. I live 100 miles from the land I own and hunt and can't run a trap line, but wouldn't mind a sportsman paid bounty. I know I don't see as many fawns in mid Dec as I use to.
