Does anyone feed “their” deer sweet feed? Since corn has been sold out around here I’ve used it to feed the deer at the house. It only costs about $2.00 more a bag. The deer absolutely love it but I found out that the least bit of moisture ruins it. If you’re using it, how are you feeding it and keeping it dry? Gravity feeder, covered trough, etc…?

I tried it before, I put 1/3 feed and 2/3 corn. It would flow better.

Build you a trough with a screen bottom and put a top on it. The cover should keep most of the water out and the screen in the bottom will allow any rain that blows in to it to drain.

I had much rather be tried by twelve than carried to my grave by six!!!!

My idea has been plastic drums cut in half with holes drilled in them for water drainage. That way i can also feed something like rice bran if i wanted to. Then tin roof over them

There was a pretty cool vid on Facebook earlier this season with a guy building troughs with half barrels, a single 4x4 post and 1 sheet of tin for a roof. Holds 150 lbs.

I love my trough feeder. This one is 3' X 10' and easily holds 500lbs. The bottom is treated 2x10 spaced like deck boards and drains well. I do lose some feed through the cracks but that let's me know when it needs filling because I get pics of them trying to stick their heads under it.
