Where ya at? I bout to walk in to big field. Aint hunted it much in morning - none this year in morning - but in past years when i had a camera on it - good deer use to hit it in the morning. Pretty morning - wind out of east. Ole timers use to say thats when the hunting is the least 😀

Setup in a climber on the edge of a cutover in St. Clair county. Not quite as windy as I was expecting. Good luck fellas!

I’m back at it. Got that 8pt last week, 11pt yesterday. So I brought the m1 garand out since I have two months to fill that last buck tag.

Across the road, deer were at the the feeder about an hour ago. On call so more than likely just watching today

Just had three small racked bucks come up behind me at 25 yards. The wind shifted and blew straight towards them and they left. Too young anyway.

Out in Talladega nf clay county. Nothing yet. Met two hunters at parking spot and I believe one of them shot around 730. Only one other shot heard so far. Wind is briskly out of the east south east. Moon phase puts mid day on the temptation list but I’ll see if I can hang on in this pine that long

Slept in. Left camp about 7 to hang a climber and hunt midmorning. Got to my spot and was uncasing my gun and a sick feeling came over me. Yep, Ammo was in my back pack at camp and all I had was my fanny pack. So I hung my stand and left. It could be in a real, real good spot. See below! 😂. How they managed to hit the ground without popping is a miracle.

Today was a good reminder why i don't hunt the National Forest on weekends

Shot a doe about 6:20 with the AR15. Hornaday ELDM 73gr. First deer I’ve ever shot with a 223. It was slightly quartering to me at 83 yards. She ran about 60 yards.
