Imo , I wouldn't waste my time unless its in deep cover near thier bed . That’s why I want to hunt it. It near a large bedding area and it’s loaded with tracks. I’ve just never hunted a pond before and was trying to figure out when would be the best time. I’ve got one area that is pretty busy at night but not so much in the morning

I like the midnight to 4 but I'd say 10 P to 4 A. I have a pond in my pasture about 80 yards from my back door. It has tracks all around the shallow end. I only see them around it in that time frame. They may use the small one in the woods during the day, not sure.

If in a drought they may key in water. As far as time of day. I seed more bucks in the hottest part of the day out in the open like bean fields and cutovers. We’ve been at the barn, August at 11am and already hotter than jades and 5 bucks walk within a hundred yards and feed on beans. I’ve jumped mature bucks in cutover on the sunny side of hills.
My WAG would have to do with bugs not out at those times and places.
