That is a very broad statement. Many factors at play. They will be where the food and water is. If you do not have food and water on your property, you will not have any deer. If you planted early and have a greenfield they will be pounding it, especially if you are the only one around with GF.

I agree with hawndog. When we were at the camp last week we saw several deer come to drink in the pond. It was also full of tracks and trails around the oaks and wild persimmon around the pond. We also have 2 creeks that always have water running in them. I saw a ton of tracks on the edge of those also. I don’t think it would be too difficult to kill a deer right now in this dry weather. Hopefully y’all will get some of this rain. We’re finally getting a little bit and supposed to increase as the afternoon goes on.

I started putting a glass of ice water next to my corn piles and my cameras went into over drive.

Depending upon your situation hunting a water source could be really good right now. One of our properties is ~260 acres and has absolutely no standing/running water source right now. I know deer get most of their water from vegetation etc…but it is so dry I’ve got to believe there are situations where water is now a limiting factor and if you have it, it could be some good hunting.

Deer around our house are actually drinking out of the bird bath in the front yard, pretty much drinking it dry every night.

I’ve noticed the deer are staying close to water in the last two weeks. Every mud hole that’s left is covered up with tracks. It’s crazy how many tracks are at my lake.

I got more shooters n clarke than i ever seen. I aint got water right by feeders - but just guessing my neighbors 100s of acres of acorns were a bust. Getting 900-1200 pics n 4 days per feeder. I got 5-6 really good deer and a few are mounters. Rare for me. And i got a young stud 3 year old 10 and two 4 year old tens. One of the 4 year old 10 may reach 120 and the other short brow 10 may be 17 wide
Fixing to spread clover on part of my dirt fields and rye on part when i see next rain

That’s what bucks do from what I’ve seen…….You may have a bunch grouped up in a small area this time of year……The bigger question is what total area is being represented by those grouped up bucks. That 200 acres area may represent the buck density for a much larger area around it……In other words, how many hunters DON’T have a picture of what they consider a “shooter” right now??.......I would suspect that in this day and age of camera hunting that this can really drive or suppress the amount of man hours being put in the stands

Don't see a drought making much of a difference either way in areas with ample water here in most areas of Alabama. Could give some folks an advantage. With current highs in 80's who really wants to hunt anyways. I imagine these folks that have a picture of a good'un on a camera would be most likely after one. But, it would have to be a once in a lifetime deer for me to want to trail one in this weather. By the time you find the deer the meat would probably be spoiled too. Really would want to shoot one with a rifle at close range in warm weather to increase my chances of drt and be near a walk-in cooler.

We're right on the coosa river, so they have plenty of water.

Only advantage I’ve seen so far is corn, due to scarce acorns and food plots that ppl haven’t planted or planted and lost.
