Didnt have any help this morning, couldnt work. So i decided to go fishing, or we'll call it "catchin" so far. Sitting on a rock at the Sipsey catchin trout one after the other. I reckon somebody could have a real good time fly fishing this morning because theyre rising real good too. Only problem ive had so far is keeping both lines in the water. Just had a bald eagle fly by and land right up the river. I imagine him and some cranes will have plenty to eat after i leave. No bigguns but sure has been a blessing getting to sit on the river bank for a little while.

I can't wait to get back up there. Went in April, had a great time fly fishing, haven't been able to get back since. Now that it's cooling off, waders are going to be a must. I need to lose another 15-20lbs before I'll fit in mine laugh

I imagine deer season may have taken some pressure off of them, plus the cooler weather.

Not crowded. Ended up catching 12-15, i guess. One good one, 1.5lb, i guess. Nice couple hours fishing. I need more of this.

That’s awesome. I’ve never been to the Sipsey before.

I dont think it would be worth a drive from mobile. If you were dead set on catching a trout, bull shoals lake in Arkansas would be the go to trip. Better quality fish for sure and a much better quality experience. Sipsey river beliw the dam is a giant ditch, thats about it. Its cool there in the morning because the water is cold. The fish are easy to catch. But it is not a real nice place to fish. Just a slick rocky ditch. Now the Sipsey above the lake is beautiful.

Yeah if I was making a trip from South AL to catch trout, I’d just go to North GA

I’m not sure that’s even possible.

Those rainbow trout straight from the water to the grease, fried, are as good as any fish ive ever ate. Specks included

Specks aren’t that great to eat in my opinion. I mean I ain’t turning them down at a fish fry, I’ll eat pretty much any kind of fish. I would rather eat white trout though. And Blackfish are sooo much better than both. I’ve never had rainbow trout before.

I agree! Yet on the Mississippi coast they are one of the most expensive items on a restaurant menu. Good marketing!

It's been a day since i've eaten a rainbow...but i've eaten my share (along with browns, brook and cutthroats caught in Colorado), but i'm not sure i've eaten anything better than the specs i fixed this past may down at ft. morgan. Maybe it was just the cook wink

Hard for me to go there when Tim's Ford is just over the Tennessee border.

I bad mouthed them, but they can be ok if cooked fresh fresh. Have you ever had blackfish? No comparison.
