We will be heading down Thursday for my daughter's Volleyball tournament. I might get to slip off 1 morning to fish to fish a couple hours. Is it worth taking a fishing rod? We will be in a condo on the bay side just before Zekes marina. Im pretty sure he has his own pier but I dont know if it has a light on it. He has a boat down there but they dont fish. Can I catch anything off the wing wall at the pass right now and what is biting? What say the aldeer experts?

Blues, spanish, specks, flounder, reds, ground mullet all should be biting or about to kick into high gear. If there's a light on the pier, cast a live shrimp or bull minnow up current and let it drift back through the light and hang on.

Avoid Gulf Shores. Shrimp Fest this weekend. With the good weather, they are expecting 300,000 people to attend over the four days.

Trust I will be CC everywhere I go. Can I get live Shrimp at Zekes? I will be on limited time to fish. Will those fake shrimps and fish bites on a Pompano rig work? Ive had pretty good luck on those Miro-Lures I think they are called. I like casting like any bass fisherman

The closest store to you is Lost Bay in the Rouses shopping center or you can stop at the place we recently sold, J&M Tackle on Canal Rd.

I heard there was a good flounder bite in the pass today. I have only caught 1 in my life and it was a big one in Mobile Bay down by Ft. Morgan. It smoked a Mirro-lure. Whats the best lure for flounder> Let me guess, Live shrimp. LOL

Whats the best lure for flounder> Let me guess, Live shrimp. LOL I’ve caught hundreds of flounder on rod and reel. The absolute best bait is a 3/4 ounce pompano jig with a strip of mullet about the size of your middle finger attached to the back of the jig. Make long cast and let the jig sink to the bottom. Shake the jig along the bottom slowly and reel up the slack and repeat. Make sure to keep the jig on the bottom. You will usually not feel the bite. The jig will all of sudden feel like it is hung on the bottom. Wait a few seconds and set the hook. Mono is better than braid because it will keep your bait on the bottom better. Live bull minnows on a Carolina rig are good as well but you cover way more ground with a jig.

Swing on over and we will catch something...

Is the pompano jig you are talking about just the jig head (bare) or does it have a plastic or hair body on it also?
