Me and my boy launched at Mink Creek on hwy 79 yesterday and fished a few hours. Fished the main channel drop offs, rip rap, boat houses and everything in between and didn't land a bass. That's very rare for me. Looks like they killed all the damn grass. I haven't been to the lake in 2yrs and was blown away at how little vegetation was growing. I use to fish all growing up and never saw boats on Tuesdays. Each ramp had 10 trucks on it or more. That lake sure ain't what it used to be. The river has fell off too. Internet ruins everything good that's for sure.

Kinda sounds like Lay. Man we used to hammer em flipping the grass but no more. One of my friends gave up fishing Gville and now fishes the Warrior and he says he catches just as many big fish with less hassle. Said he caught two 6 pounders in one day a few weeks ago.

There was plenty of grass last week when I was out there. All kinds. Eel grass, milfoil, hydrilla, pretty much whatever you wanted. Matted up with bream popping. Not sure where you went. But, it does get hammered.

Yes fishing mid week used to be a few boats. Now everyday is Saturday. Home owners are really complaining about the grass and tva is listening. If catch and release is a thing the fish should be there.

You just THINK it’s not what it used to be. Guntersville is chock full of bass, grass and everything between.
