I’m new to crane hunting. Can you guys recommend a great shell and shot size for cranes? The regs state no lead shot.

Steel 2's or 3's and home in on the head-neck. Most all brands will work.

My last hunt I used steel #4's. Key is to get them close and aim for the head and neck, like others have said. You don't need large shot size. You need a predictable, dense pattern at close range. Think of it like a flying turkey.

I can verify that tss #9s out of a 20 ga will fold a crane up. Heck I left my red dot on and shot one walking like a turkey.
