My wife got drawn for the Primitive weapons hunt at portland 11/19
We are not going to be able to make it. It is in the middle of the week.
I will make someone here a damn good deal:
If you are the alternate for this hunt, reach out to me. I will decline the hunt and you can take it on the condition that you give me your word that you will take me as your guest.
I have a camp very close to Portland that i will even offer up as lodging and a side by side we can drive around on during the hunt. Hell, if you don't have a muzzleloader, I will even give you mine and I will bowhunt.
205.908.7455 That’s a good plan in theory, but there are more than one alternate for each hunt. I don’t know the exact number but I suspect there are up to three or more alternates for each hunt date. Probably depends partly on how many units are in the SOA.

I got blanked again on 10 hunts I put in for.
Wow, I put in for 62 this time, I usually put in for 60-70 each year. I figure the more I apply for the better chance I have!

Wife and I applied for the same 14 gun “either sex” hunts on 3 different SOAs. She’s got 129 points and didn’t get “hunter” status but was chosen as alternate on 3 hunts. We accepted an alternate for Portland. I got alternate on Thigpen Hill. I had 9 points. This chit is so random.

Anyone do the Geneva dog hunt previously? Looking at the rules for the adult hunts, im reading any youth you bring have to be 8-15yo Was hoping to bring my 4 year old to just sit with me. He’s the main reason I even applied for it. I did Geneva last year, it was a fun experience but can’t imagine it being fun for a 4 year old. They are very strict (and rightly so) that you cannot leave the hunt area for the whole time of the hunt (about 3+ hours) and must stay within 25 yards of your marked spot. So you’d just be standing on a road for 3+ hours with a 4 year old two times a day. I can’t imagine that would be a fun experience for a kid that young. I’m honestly surprised they’d let a 5 year old there. I’d think that would be more of an 8+ year old kind of hunt.

I took him about 6 times last year and he was content just hanging out with me and looking for deer. Not quite shoot house ready but the dog hunts we did in VA growing up, you just sit and hang out til the deer ran across the road or field. In my head it’s super kid friendly but sounds like it may be ran a bit different down here.

I haven't seen him post anything. Coosa posted in the SOA thread in the General forum. He drew again a muzzy hunt and a couple alternates.

Has anyone received the confirmation emails yet? I got blanked on Portland and Cedar but got Blue Springs dog hunt. I am paranoid now because I got screwed on alligator permit for small print. Seems like last time I got the confirm email the next day. Wasn’t sure since Blue Spring is not SOA. Thanks guys. You should be able to log into the SOA hunt website and accept the regardless right now.

A dog hunt at Blue Sping is a draw hunt now? I used to just climb a tree and listen for the dogs.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.
