We bush hogged 3 fields Sunday up at Oneonta and I did see a fair number of birds coming in throughout the day hitting what was already on the plowed ground. Two of those sunflower/millet fields that we bush hogged will be burned Wednesday (tomorrow) ahead of this rain coming. I'm like the rest of yall that are saying,.....this front will either drive new birds in or either drive what already here out. I guess we'll see whats up Saturday.

Seeing about half of what I had 3 weeks ago.

Neighbors experiencing the same.

Still enough to have a good shoot but not as good.

Buddy whose land we're hunting this weekend has been seeing them consistently for the last several days, as recently as yesterday. Fingers crossed they stay.

GomerJr has only been on 1 dove hunt, a few years ago, and he was going as my bird dog. It was a terrible hunt and not a single shot was fired. He's going again this weekend and taking his granddad's single-shot 20g, hoping to put it to work. Hopefully he gets plenty of opportunities to miss grin

Been watching fields the past 3 days. We could have burned the barrels up based on what I’ve seen. Hoping the weather doesn’t change them by Saturday

I want to wish everyone good luck tomorrow . If you're like me, you'll shoot 3 boxes of shells and have 4 birds, lol. I have not heard any report on bird numbers in the last couple of days at the place I go, I reckon tomorrow with the front coming in will be the test.
Shoot straight yall !!

Ok, yall sound off with how it went Saturday?
It started off slow for me at Noon with just a few random birds here and there coming across the field from time to time. That morning front that rolled in did affect them early I think but by maybe 2 pm things started getting a little better and the clouds dissipated, sun came out and they flew a little better. There was one point around 445pm where a nice group of I'd guess 20+ or so birds came in all at once and just about everyone was able to get some shots off at them which was fun !! I think I ended up getting 11 or 12 put in the bucket and lost 3 or 4 more due to high grass and a creek. I did get a double also. I dont remember doing that a a long while.
I did notice just about all the birds that were shot were young and small ,hardly any larger doves were collected. I hope that all of you had a great shoot and had fun.

Folks I were with had a good shoot. I, did not. Think I pulled the trigger three times. Just didn't fly my way, and the few that did got stroked by a guy 50 yards to my left before they got close enough for me to shoot. Beer was cold and the food was good.

Odo, Ive been there before. Sometimes it just happens like that for no reason. As long as you ate good is rated as a good day to me smile

Birds flew ok for us......not great, but I've seen worse. We didn't have enough guns around the field to keep them in the field and a lot managed to get in/out without ever even getting shot at. Apparently I've completely forgotten how to shoot a bird since the last time I dove hunted though. I couldn't hit water if I'd fallen out of a boat. GomerJr didn't hit anything either (not shocked since he's never shot at a bird) but he got to pull the trigger a few times and had fun. Hoping to go again later in the year.

Had about 60 on my field early Sat am. Dont know where they went because it was very slow for us. I had exactly 15 in the bucket but my 13yrold girl killed the majority of those. She was knocking them off the line with a little short barreled 20ga. 17yr old had a few and her boyfriend had some. My neighbor had several as well but I had more fun ragging him about all the ones he was missing. Im guessing we killed 30-35 total. Overall we had a decent hunt but the slowest its ever been on my place.

Its not the will to win but the will to prepare to win!

Slow as expected. 75 or 80 birds with 23 guns.

I think there were 19-20 limits killed on the field we hunted so overall pretty good.

We had a great Friday afternoon hunt yesterday with just a few friends. Cloudy and breezy and steady birds flying
