For us Norf Bammer folks, we have jumping carp in Pickwick and they're moving upriver. Already have other species in the river including the giant Bigheads.

A meeting is scheduled about the carp situation:

Alabama Meeting
Date: August 27, 2024
Time: 5-7:30 p.m. Central Standard Time
Location:
Lauderdale County Extension Office
802 Veterans Drive
Florence, AL 35630

This threat has been talked over in symposiums ,conferences, councils, associations and state DCNR's turn up the same ideas and suggestions which is being done but not to the extent it needs to be...complete eradication needs to be stepped up,,,, or be prepared to see our waterways fisheries turned into danger zones(like some already are ) and wreck havoc on our beloved freshwater fishes ..... things exotic that were introduced here from other countries ...reptiles , mammals to insects and such have done nothing but destroy the habitat and threaten the numbers of our fish and game directly .

I read that these carp are starting to show up in certain waters sickly looking and many as if they're starving.... water testing and live capture show that they've filtered the waters near clean of enough nutrients it's impacting them even. If we could be so lucky... while arrowing them for sport looks kind of fun there simply aren't enough arrows or sportsmen to get the job done.
