The people who spoke, and those in attendance, probably don’t know the difference or even care. All they know is they are against grass. I can’t tell you how many claim it overheats their boats, clogs their jet skis, on and on. It is a nuisance in its own way, but it’s so brittle, it really doesn’t do what they say. It was also mentioned something about the water quality and the water intakes. If they really knew, they’d know the lake is clearer than it’s ever been, and it’s because of the eelgrass.

“Research and Study”. That means money for somebody.

So is it really eel grass or is it milfoil? I haven't seen this much eel grass up there but I'm usually below the dam not on the lake. Always called it Wild Celery eel grass is Northern terminology.

Hardly any milfoil compared to what once was due to the eel grass. It’s freaking horrible.

Stuff is the spawn of satan. Heaven forbid you want to throw a little topwater or a crankbait anymore all you do is spend time pulling it off the hook. We live on the lake and are blessed with really deep water but if you are anywhere under 8 feet at your dock you can't swim or do anything water related. I'm not really sure how harvesting it is gonna do any good other than get a few politicians re-elected bc they are attempting to fight the good fight. The TVA allowed this beast to explode during COVID, the only way we will get rid of it is to nuke it with pesticides which will never happen.

We use to have a good bit of coontail on a lake here by the house. TVA killed every single bit of it out and the fishing went to crap the next year…. .. kilt every bit of grass on the lake as well, sorry

The search of articles show eelgrass to be a bass magnet, milfoil an invasive species with little value. I have seen a crystal clear shallow lake of about 20 acres covered in what is probably milfoil. The only areas open were small channels. Over the years there have been huge eelgrass restoration projects around the globe due to the large positive impact it has on the entire marine ecosystem. So, clean the channels and keep eelgrass., if huge bass is the goal. Clean the milfoil out or any other invasive species.

I’d rather have the milfoil than the eelgrass any day.
