I was amazed to watch them take care of their fish, add ice and some additives to live wells!

What is the stuff folks add to the livewells? And does it actually increase the odds of the fish surviving long term or just keep it alive long enough to be weighed only to die shortly after release?

G-Juice https://www.omniafishing.com/p/g-ju..._sort=true&fishing_reports_waterbodyAll-day fish care in the summer time is an art. Lots, probably most, of those guys are not pumping in fresh water (because it’s HOT) and are opting to recirculate the same water while using ice to help keep livewell temps down. Using G-Juice helps to combat the ammonia buildup coming from the fish and cleans up the chlorine or anything else coming from the ice. I’m pretty sure BASS uses the Fish Lung apparatus in their holding tanks at/after weigh in. It injects super concentrated oxygen into the water to help the fish regain as much strength as possible before release. Some of the pros are using it or similar products on their boats.

Yep, hydrogen peroxide helps tremendously! There was a sizable fish kill after the Big Bass Splash here in Guntersville last week. Wish they’d educate the masses a little better to help reduce that. Feel like it’s more they just don’t care. I always had a few needles with me to stick them, and Mt Dew in the gills seemed to help a little on bleeding fish…

Feel like it’s more they just don’t care.… That’s part of it for sure, but I read over and over how tons of folks say they just pump in fresh water every once in a while and “never lost a fish”.

Thats what gets me too...How you gonna keep a big spot alive all day long in this heat with just fresh water... I would ice em down, add sure-life and recirculate...They're too hard to come by for me not to take care of them...
Did you know that Beer Nutz are over a Dollar...and Deer Nutz are under a Buck...

Many years ago I was running up river. Passed a patch floating down river and saw one bust the surface. Went back to it and slung a rat on it and caught a 5lber. It was about 5,000 sf. We must have caught 50 out of it floating down river.

It’s crazy how he and Hanselman and Cox milked their spots for 4 consecutive days. Not areas, but spots. It’s insane. I’m pretty sure hanselman fished the money hole.. that’s not the correct name for the spot but maybe a local can chime in can verify the correct name..
