Last fall I planted my first Clover plot. I planted Wheat with the Clover as a nurse crop. The Clover looks really good under the Wheat right now. My question is should I mow the Wheat now or just let it die out this summer. Also, when should I fertilize the clover (before or after the wheat dies)?

Fertilize clover in April/May.

I usually spray cleth on wheat early in March to go ahead and knock it back on fields I’m establishing in clover.

Wish I would’ve done that instead of mowing 3x

I just bushhogged some very thick abruzzi rye, oats and austrian winter peas early in the week. There was a good stand of clover living under it. The peas and grass was head high. I was afraid theyd be so thick a mat on the ground it would smother out my clover. I rode through there and looked, the clover is popping up through it. Im really proud of that. I hope all that stuff i just chopped up does the soil some good. No telling how many rolls of hay would have come off that 2 acres if it was baled. I just wonder what will happen to all the rye and oat seeds. Had to be hundreds of pounds of it.

They will be eaten by turkeys, dove, and mice.

Does anyone know of a source for Clearfield Wheat ? I’d love to be able to use Imox on it

"Cull" is just another four letter word...
