I’ve planted it with great results. But that was before I had a lot of deer.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

add another 5-7lbs of vetch to the pea patch. after they wipe out the bigger plants, you will have a crop of vetch for them to eat until the first frost.
Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers.......... Si Robertson

I've planted everything they sell in a bag, then one year I realized I'd be money ahead to feed protein in gravity feeders all summer. Summer plots are gone in a few days in most cases. Traditionally, planting is cheaper than sup feeding. But if you have very little area to plant, sup feed is still more expensive, it's just that you don't have enough land to make planting work. Great luck.

I like it. Planted some this weekend but I added a little more buckwheat since my deer hammer it, a little sunn hemp, some okra and deer vetch & alyce clover. Avoided any sorghum in the mix incase I need to spray crab grass.
"Cull" is just another four letter word...

Sure the deer aren’t clipping the peas/beans as soon as they germinate? I’ve not seen them fail to get out of the ground in the pea patches I’ve planted. Yep

Quick spinoff Question about the pea patch…considering planting for a feathering of my fields this fall. Would it come up/be worth waiting till end of sept/first of October to plant this?

I'll just say this: WMS is the real deal. The Bumgarder boys do not sell anything that is below par. Actually, they are above par on everything they sell. If you plant it and it doesn't meet your expectations, you did something wrong or Mother Nature just did not cooperate!!!

I love Pea Patch, but in my area, you are paying for sunflowers that the deer are going to nip right as they come up. I've found that a mixture of peas, buckwheat and sorghum works better. Or, if you just want to use pea patch, but a few pounds of sorghum per acre in there to give the peas something climb on. Deer don't eat the sorghum still it seed out and then only the seeds. Oh, and if you want it to last, hit it with some milorganite either at planting or 2 weeks after to keep the off it for a few weeks and let it grow.

I think in theory peas patch was a great idea. For using our area it was just too much pressure I believe. I think if done again we would have done better to just plant beans or peas with one other item for concealment. What we planted has been nipped to nothing and over taken by grasses. Never did see a sunflower. My experience to the T... dry period didn't help mine either
