Local co op has Milo and brown top millet around 55 per sack. Going with one of each. And a bag of black oil sunflower seeds

got our fields bush hogged and disced up this weekend. Was nice and cool saturday and was glad to get some seat time!!

We got held up on some other projects today, What is the maturity time on sunflower seeds ? Going to plant Monday

119-120 days to mature have to add in time for seed head to dry as well. That can be subject to natural causes or can be sped up chemically

We looking good on dove field. I hit it with triple 19 at planting. Is the nitrogen requirements for sunflowers similar to corn?

I’d say not as much as corn. They do require a good bit more potassium than average I would say

Planted mine with a new spreader and they coming in a little think. Proud of the germination rate but coulda used 60-50% success rate.

They are late. I lost a month due to wet ground.

It will be close for the opener but I’ve got a good bit of brown top to cut.

I planted a lot of millet and sorgham 3 weeks ago this Saturday and of course it dried up. But this morning we got a steady soaker so I should know what I've got and what the birds didnt get in a week or so, and it should have enough time left to mature.

Side note - it appears (fingers crossed) the kudzu is finally dead. It took 2 years of nonstop warfare but it's looking like I finally got the upper hand. And ironically the brief drought may have been a factor in it. I crossbowed it 2 times and it burned it up good and due to the weather it had no moisture to rebound. That may have been the key.

Well I have had .2 total rain. Looks like Tuesdays rain is going north of us now

1/2 inch of rain on Friday and 1 inch yesterday. The millet is doing well

My sunflowers are full bloom, millet is starting to head out, Milo is about a month out to be mature.

Finally getting rain everything is looking good.Leaving the beavers alone downstream from the fields hope to have water to pump before Thanksgiving this year. There are some serious duck farms here in Jackson county. They had water and food last year when the ducks arrived.

corn didnt produce wurf a dang and alot of our black sunflowers barely made. Milo, millet and mammoth sunflowers are doing good though!

The army worms are destroying all of it. I'll take some photos and post later. Gah....It's bad. Gonna have to go ahead and spray / cut / burn a couple weeks early.

Those dry spells were rough on the corn.

Been top sowing some wheat. My numbers seem to be way down this year. Had over 40 get up a couple weeks ago so I thought it was going to be great.
Numbers seem to have fallen way off. Need some cooler weather to maybe push a few down.

Numbers are not even in the ball park as the last few years. They have been slowly dwindling for me, but so far this year is a drastic drop for us.

Burned today, had a good bunch when I rolled up and had birds landing while the ground was smoking. Tickled the top of half with the disc and going to add the wheat tomorrow

They picked the corn 1 mile from me yesterday, that's really gonna help my numbers. Nobody is allowed to shoot that field. May drop off a couple hundred bottle rockets to the neighbors kids.

I ain’t seeing many at all

Well I bushhogged more sunflowers and corn down last week. Went to Hollywood to get fuel yesterday 4 combines where catching corn.

I've got some birds at my bosses place that I planted for him. He said he saw around 150 yesterday evening. Not a very big field. Problem is we aren't going to shoot it until early October due to everyone's schedule. Maybe I can get them to stay till then.
