I came across an opportunity to get some wheat seed in a 55 gallon drum for 30$. How many pounds of seed is there in a 55 gallon drum?

I think this is a pretty good deal but I want to know how many drums I will need to plant plots.

I was thinking more like 600?? Might go by a seed store and ask them or just get them to see how many 50lb bags will fit in there.

I think it is about 6 bushels in a 55 gallon drum. 60 lbs in a bushel of wheat. 6 times 60 is 360 lbs so I'm in there somewhere with Daniel.

We did that a week ago with wheat. Each drum had a little over 300# in it. We did not fill them all the way to the top to keep the wheat from blowing out as we drove it to the lease.

Do they have more to sale? Thanks, JOn

I haven't been to the farmers place to get any yet. The guy that told me about it seems to think he has plenty.

most likely about 8 50 # bags, 7 of corn will almost fill a 55 gallon drum.
About 400#.
