not quite as old, maybe 20 years but a real close range killer on wary birds...

Pretty cool BhamFred, I have one of the Ben Lee calls like yours. What is the deal with the last call you posted?

it is a real slate call......

you cup the slate rock in left palm and gently scratch it with the horseshoe nail/wood held cupped in right hand. It ain't very loud, but it is killed up close...

made for me by a buddys dad. Only call his dad ever used and he killed a LOT of turkeys.....

Interesting link on old Lynch calls. Wish I had one of his squirrel calls - I bet they are rare.....

There is no telling what some of those calls are worth. I didn't know he even made a squirell call.

I don't have pics handy, but I've got a couple of wingbone calls that Henry Nettles of Pebble Hill made for my dad back in the 70s. Anyone else familiar with Henry and his calls?

the lynch's jet slate is a good one - had one for years - use it close in to make whines, purrs and light clucks - sounds just like a hen feeding along - i'm gonna have to try the cut nail and slate - what kind of wood is the striker? - nice collection

Nice looking calls, even if they are old. Wonder what these calls would say if they could talk.

I was gonna tell ya'll to play nice, but, what the hell...3-Toe IS a dumbarse eek eek

for the record 3-Toe every bird I've killed with those calls(dozens) have fallen to 2 3/4" and 3" WW #6s......a lot of em out of a 1930 Ithica single barrel trap gun or a late 1930's Stevens double gun......

I shot a 3" 12 ga 870 for years, then a 2 3/4" 870 for about as long. Wife thought the spray camo eek 870 was too ugly and bought me a Benelli factory camo, but I still hunt with a longbow most of the time.... laugh .....you still cheating and using that shotgun?????

This is what makes Aldeer great. Two dumbarses calling someone else a dumbarse. wink

Dang, YEKRUT. You didn't have to go and delete the post. N2deer is gonna think you broke up with him or something. :p

All in good fun guys, don't get your camo tighty whities all wadded up.

I like the Ben Lee call. I would like to find one in slate. Those trough calls make sweet and smooth cluck and purrs. I bet you'd be hard pressed to find a snuff can that small these days. Is the bottom still in it or is there just a hole?

small triangular shaped hole in the bottom.

I had a buddy maybe ten or twelve years ago bring me a whole box of the small cans, snuff included. He found them in an old country store and bought the whole box of 24 cans....I got 12 of em wink those size cans haven't been made in 40 years.......

Yeah, after our last conversation on snuff can calls I started looking on ebay for some. Didn't find a thing.

Maybe I need to put a call in to American Pickers. laugh
