Nice catch!!! I hope that is a throw away spinning reel laying in the sand. Thats a 3000 Diawa revros with 12lb test on a 6.5ft Allstar medium heavy rod. I took it out there to sling a gotcha and catch bait. When the jacks come by the first time i put a big popper on it. That fish just nearly won the battle. He nearly spooled me.I had about 50yds of line left when i turned him. Faught him for 20min i guess. Thats probably the last fish that reel will reel in, i think it wore it out. The fish died as well. Epic fishing battle. Then i toted that fish a half mile to give it to a bunch of mexicans so it wouldnt go to waste. I hated that fish before i found them mexicans. I wont ever forget it.

Alright, I know this is an old thread but what’s the trick jwalker? I’m in fort Morgan trying to catch a shark (or anything) and can’t get a bite.
First day I caught a limit of pomp’s and some Spanish mackerel but the rest of the week has been a bust. Surf is rough today, only catching catfish, but I figured there’s still be some sharks out there Last time I went it was slow and caught two giant sting rays.

Are you all the way on the west end? Couple of weeks ago I fished Dixey Bar from my boat for reds and got skunked, but there were plenty of sharks out there. Can't catch them every time though. No, I figured I’d have better luck down at the fort but I’m also a dad and husband so I gotta fish where the family is setting up, which is in front of the beach house. I had something pick it up and go for a run the morning but didn’t get the hook set and missed it.

My son fished down there alot last year. He hung 2or3 but never got one in. The sunday before we went down there, at our bible study, we prayed that Joseph would catch a shark down there. He caught 15. I think God was just showing out a little bit. If you think God dont deal in catching fish, ask Peter about it if you ever see him. Jseph was about out of bait on the third day and wasnt having any luck catching any. He had just told his mama he needed some bait when an old man walked up with a bag. The old guy said he had been watching Joseph catch them sharks and was impressed.said he was about to leave and just wanted to give him something. There were several foot long mullet in the bag. When he handed it to him he said, "Gods best to you son". About an hour later he caught his biggest shark on one of them mullets. We give God the credit for that fishing success. We have been plenty of times and not been successful. Thanks for sharing that.
