Sit at #8 as much as you can. I shot a good buck there opening day of gun season 3 years ago and would give ANYTHING if I could've killed the second buck that ran across the road right after I shot

Things I always ask when joining a club is "what are the rules", "do the rules ever change mid-season", and "what are the unspoken rules". Was in the club in the past and there's some good guys in it... some not so good. If you stay there, you can get a good spot to hunt. If you drive and get there around 5, it's possible every good site is already signed out by the guys who stay in the camp. Good luck.

Yep I got out because several rules are written to benefit the guys that have been in a while. Also, the president gripes about the size of peoples campers and all that and he's got a durn single-wide trailer out there.

I also don't like how you can't hunt another member's stand. In many areas, there's only one good tree that you could put a lock-on or ladder stand due to it being a pine forest in many areas. It's not fair that they can put a stand up on that tree and essentially keep you from hunting that entire area.

Just my 2 cents, hope you have a good season.

And now, the rest of the story:

I would like to address some of your comments but I will preface this by saying that we had no problem with you and your dad (Sr). The 3rd party to whom I wish to address I will just call Bubba.

First, I would like to know what rules benefited the members that had been in a while. The rules applied to everyone so I'm intersted in your response. Just asking for some feed back because if they are valid, we need to look into making some changes.

As for the campers, I have only heard the president complain about one camper and that was Bubba's. He told Bubba not to bring his camper to our camp but Bubba did anyway. We were out of lots and the land owner had already warned us about over crowding. Then Bubba had to have this rat infested green bus hauled in. We did not have room for it and had to make a place for it. He later sold it for a little of nothing and the new owner abandoned it because it took a wrecker to move, which would cost more than it was worth. WE STILL HAVE IT SO NOW YOU KNOW! Come get it!

As for stands, we do not have a rule about hunting other member's stands but it is only common courtesy to ask the owner. This particular year, we got complaints about someone tampering with stands...super gluing locks, cutting chains off the stands, etc. Bubba apparently bragged too many times at the sign in board because it all got back to us. If he couldn't hunt it, no one could. Tampering with stands that are 20 ft in the air is a huge problem and we will not tolerate that. I was actually confronted by Bubba (who had only been in the club 2 months)and he proceeded to tell me a good stand to hunt. It was my own stand! His scouting apparently was for stands and not deer. The owners spent the time, money, and effort to place these stands only to have Bubba take advantage of someone else's scouting and hard work.

How do you put a stand in one tree and keep everyone from hunting an entire area? Our sections are at least 40 acres each. We had about 90 sections and even more now. In all my years of hunting, I have never had a problem with finding my own deer and my own tree. At the time, 5000 acres...really?

Your 2 cents are noted because you were a good member. But Bubba, tell him to come get his green rat infested bus!

Hey Hopper, just got off the phone with one of the new members. He said that he saw one of the biggest deer he had ever seen, and this guy has killed a lot of deer. I use to hunt with him in Greene Co. He was leaving and saw a buck cross the road. He said it was a good buck but then 2 eight points walked out and crossed the road. He slowed down and then saw a huge buck with a double main beam. By now he had come to a complete stop. The huge buck crossed the road and he said then a 10 point walked out and crossed the road. He said he had never seen anything like it! I may have to slip him a few green backs to find out where he saw them. Hope it was around my camera. He saw a big buck last week on the other side or our property....he joined that day! Your safe, none of them were around your big buck. Gonna be a gooood year!

I was wondering about that club too. My family joined one down 69 and wished we could have joined this year. I emailed the club president,I believe, and got on the waiting list.I moved here from Ms. three years ago and have never hunted the area until this year.Sounds like a good place and a good group of people. Glad my wife found this forum btw lol

I haven't seen the other post but I will look that up. I emailed Mr. Bailey and he said he would add me to the waiting list so hopefully they will have another opening. My father-in-law and I are looking for another club for next year.
