Bamaeyedoc, if johnv is not interested in the 7-08, I might be. 2 of my 4 grandkids started hunting this past season. I'm looking for something kid size, kid friendly. Can text me at two fiddie six, fo ninety six, turdy five, turdy five. Or pm, but I don't check often. But please, see what johnv says first, thanks.

I’ve got a 7-08 Stevens 200 synthetic (Savage 110) that could be modified fairly easily, that I might part with. Should have some Talley lows or such to go with it. Was going to cut it down for suppressor use. It’s possible LOP could already be short, but I haven’t checked. IMO, the 6.5 (or 7-08) are better youth starter deer chamberings than 243….along with several others. Youth aren’t as polished on exact bullet placement as the 243 wishes they were, and following blood trails should be short and fun, not hard work and depressing. JMO

If you can get to Birmingham, I have a Thompson Center bolt action youth rifle in .243 Winchester. It has a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x50 scope with Firefly reticle and (I think) Warne rings. I have 44 rounds of assorted ammo (4 brands). $275 for bare rifle. $300 for scope and rings. $50 for all the ammo which includes 17 rounds of Hornady Precision Hunter 90 grain ELD-X. $600 for the entire package. I had been setting up this rifle for my nephew, but I've decided to go in another direction for him with a .300 Blackout bolt action. PM me if interested. If I don't hear back from you this week, I may go ahead and list it here.

JMO I just turn the dogs loose on em as far as tracking goes. My boys are both pretty small so I think a 243 will fit em better
