I bought a new Trapper Ruger-Marlin. It is one of the best rifles I have ever touched for factory fit and finish. Every grind line clean and straight, every joint between wood and metal perfectly fitted. Literally better than some customs that I have seen.

Once the panic buying and initial enthusiasm is over, Ruger firearms usually sell for $100-$300 less than MSRP

I guess it’s about on par with everything else. Inflation is out of control.

Yeah I remember when they were a dime a dozen. My brother bought one, wish I had. Just a great feeling and simple gun. Nice looking gun but no way they gonna sell many at that price though.

You do realize that the .45-70 was out for over 6 months before they went below $2500 on GunBroker, right? And the new 336's are generally over $1600 with days left on the auctions. No telling what the final price will be.

That's why I maintain a good relationship with my LGS. I paid right at a grand for my Trapper. Owner said if I wanted it, he would sell to me for $50 over his cost. Luckily, I got there when he was unpacking it.

Wholesale is less than $900 on that rifle.

Ruger does that sh!t on purpose. They'll do a run on a few then stop. Just look on past models in history. Just like the 45 70 , why not made 5,000 instead of 1500

Why they price so high .

Can't you still buy a used JM for way less?

I bought mine used around 1990. I'm glad I did. Only $150 with the Weaver scope! Gun is a 70s model.

Don't know where you are, but not anywhere near here. Used JM's generally go for $600+ with wood wear, faded bluing, and light freckles

They'll sell them as fast as they ship them.

I know everyone keeps complaining about the price of the new marlins, but the thing to understand is they are on a COMPLETELY different level of fit/finish and quality. Also, anyone complaining about the price hasn’t been keeping up with gun prices in general. Bargain bolt guns with cheap finishes and plastic stocks are approaching $600, “classic” quality bolt guns are almost all north of $1k now, with many models closer to $2k (Winchester 70, x bolt, rem 700, Ruger Hawkeye) hell, the starting point for a savage 110 is $800, and there’s a bunch of models that are way over 1K.

This is the new normal, and that’s what it cost to build a beautiful and high quality gun. I for one am glad to have the chance to buy one with polish/ bluing that’s actually admirable, great quality wood and front sights that aren’t canted off by 20 degrees.

Yup. I bought a new V8 4WD truck in 1990 for a little under $10K. Prices change, and I wonder why some folks are surprised by that. Milk ain't a dollar a gallon anymore either.
