Y'all that have the tetra hearing enhancers. DO you have the basic turkey ampods or the higher end ones? Im seriously thinking about getting some. Wondering how good the "cheaper ones" are compared to the top end.

I have the turkey Ampods and won’t go hunting without them now. They are worth every penny of the cost. I have no problem telling which way the sound comes from either or how far it was away. I can hear drumming for a long ways now where he used to have to be in Gun range before I could hear it. It’s best to do the hearing test at an audiologist as it was difficult for me to do the one on the Tetra site. They will customize your hearing aids to your test results. If I turn mine up to “turkey magnum”, I can hear a gnat fart at 50 yards.

How do they do when you shoot? I'm thinking I need something, I have trouble determining direction of gobbles sometimes.

With cheaper ones if you hunt near running water or the wind is blowing then you can forget hearing anything

I could not hear anything except myself walking when I used the amp pods. They were terrible. I sent them back and asked them to please turn them down as it was impossible to hear anything between staticish noise and every move I made or anyone with me made. I have not worn them since then. I had a difficult time telling direction with them in as well.

Did you do the hearing test on the Tetra site?

And for added reference, I wear normal hearing aids everyday and use the Tetras to hunt with as they have sound suppression.

I have not used them since they adjusted them. If I can find them I will try again and see if it is better now than it was before. Just got to figure out where I put them. They do ha e great customer service from what I can tell

I have the Turkey ampods . I called Tetra and stressed I can not hear drumming but can hear a gobble far as anyone. I haven't been in a situation yet to see if I can hear drumming. But I can tell low frequency , birds chirping and such is much better.

I bought the thousand dollar pair and love them. For the first time in my life my 18 year old son is asking me where the bird is. I use them on turkey boost because magnum is just too loud. I am like a lot of you boys who can’t hear drumming unless they’re in gun range. Killed one Sunday morning that was drumming his arse off and I didn’t have them in because I was running late and was 99% sure I knew exactly where he was before daylight. If you love turkey hunting and are over 40 I think they’re a great investment.

Is there really a difference y’all think in the turkey vs deer versions? Do y’all use yours at the range too?

I don't know if there's a difference , I have thought about wearing mine deer hunting though. Before I ordered I called them , I stressed to the feller I talked to that all I was interested in was hearing drumming , as whatever frequency that was I'd lost it. He said order online and he would intercept the order and personally see that whoever "programed" mine would put emphasis on the frequency of drumming. I've never worn mine at the range, they are gunshot blast cancelling though.

i got the custom version as well, they’re worth every dollar imo. you don’t realize how much u can’t hear until u can. i realize that’s a very elementary statement but certain things i COULD hear sound different, as in there’s more layers to it. my biggest loses were in the higher frequencies, anything in leaves or a squirrel on a pine tree sounds like it’s at 5’ and it can be at 100 yards. takes a little bit to trust them when judging ranges of a turkey so i usually take one out when trying to gauge how far they are.

I have the Tetra Turkey AmpPods-upgrade and they are worth the money. I can hear more gobblers now and can judge the distance much better. They do have a metallic sound when walking with the leaves crunching and raining in the hardwoods. They are not noise canceling so you need the get their Alpha-Shield series for that. For the money your spending I would get the Alpha-Shields if you can afford them. I'll probably upgrade in the next few years.

I ordered a set of the Walker's Game Ear Pods with Bluetooth several years ago. They were crap. I still have them somewhere and plan on sitting them out when I find them and the next time someone ask I'll give them away.
