It's amazing. Compare it to a grocery store tomato, compared to a garden fresh. About the same amount of difference

I agree on that comparison. Night and day difference between home grown and store bought.

I wasn't supposed to pick any last year, but I had to try it. My son and I were both out there, so I broke off a stem and tried it. It was so good that I broke off another for my son. He loved it. I had never eaten uncooked Asparagus before. It was amazing. It has a taste similar to green peanuts. The next week I bought some "fresh" at the grocery store. You know the kind. The bundle with a rubber band around it, sitting in the little cup of water to keep it from wilting. When I got home, my son and I decided to try it uncooked. It was horrible. We both spit it into the garbage can.

Cool beans, Fur! I have some three year old crowns coming; can’t wait, especially after reading this!

Looks good. That's something I've always wanted to try growing. I heard it takes 2-3 years for first harvest. Where did you get the crowns and did you plant in ground or raised bed?

I got the crowns from Amazon. I decided to plant it, later than I should have last year, so I didn't want to risk losing a ton of money. I bought 2 year old crowns. Mary Washington and Jersey Giant varieties. I prefer the Jersey Giant.

Every day. The freezing temps we had 2 or 3 weekends ago, can't remember for sure which... killed it all back to the ground. It has put up a bunch since then, and I haven't picked any. I could have, I just haven't had time. It's amazing how fast it grows.

Thanks for the title, but you must not have very high standards. laugh If going to bed at 8:30, working 12 hours a day, going to church, being fixated on Purple Martins, fishing for Crappie, and growing Asparagus, is your thing, I'm the guy. LOL
