I’ve been hunting with a 460 Rowland for a couple of years. I’ve killed a couple of deer and 3 hogs. It does well.
It’s on a 1911 frame though. I had an Encore pistol in 30–06 but it was pretty much useless without a good rest. Defeated the purpose imo

I got a Magnum Research 460S&W that shoots great . I've kill a couple with my 357 colt. I also have a colt and a glock I can swap our to the 400 cor bon if one gets in close .

I've been thinking about setting some thing else up . The 7 30 waters or a 30 30 maybe 35 rem.

Don't know yet

Hard to beat the Waters in a Contender

"Cull" is just another four letter word...

As others have already said, the 7x30 Waters is a tried-and-true deer round. 44MAG is also a great choice. I prefer the 44MAG these days, mainly because my eyes are a bit older and I was having a hard time finding the crosshairs in a pistol scope. I had a scoped Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter that was awesome, but it had to go due to my eyes. I now shoot a S&W 629 Classic with iron sights. Hard to beat that gun, and a lot of fun to shoot.

Jesus... I hope you know Him personally like I do.

Proud crossbow hunter!

Good bet I just go with the 30 30 since I have two rifles and lots of ammo already .

I really don't need another pistol slap

To be honest...I'm not sure if they ever had them on the web page. They make them in production runs, just a few months ago everybody had them available and now zero. Just got to catch them at the right time. Of the 3 I have owned I had to wait around for a production run to get the caliber I wanted each time.

CVA doesn't list everything on their web. I've handled one of those Grendels at Bass Pro. Stick your email in https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/043125807055 to get notified when they're available.

They're much heavier than a Contender. My Contender 30/30 pistol is a nice weight. Those CVA are chunks.

I got a Ruger Blackhawk in .41 Mag as college graduation present to myself. Never hunted with it(i am old, so it is ready to get some fresh air.) I am going to carry it in my pack next year, and go ahead and shoot one with it.

Better question would be what ear plugs to wear.

Good point. I'm more interested in a suppressed break action .44. Hearing it whomp would be a hoot.

It's hard to beat a TC contender or encore, I'm a big fan 44 mag, but the 30-30 or any of its offshoots all work great too (7-30 Waters, 30 Herrett, 357 Herrett)

I saw a Freedom Arms 454 Casull at Pike Tactical in Pike Road when I was in there Friday. Had a scope that went with it too. Kinda pricey though.
