I read somewhere that you could get a cheaper version of corncob and walnut cleaning media at Pet stores. Unfortunately, I don't remember what pet function it was for, I thought it was bedding but I can't find it doing a search online at PetSmart. Could anyone help a fellow out? TIA and by the way, I searched this site too.

Thanks AR1220. Did it clean well? I would be using it in straight wall pistol brass so I might not have a problem getting it out??

I’ve quit cleaning brass a few years ago and couldn’t be happier. Saves a ton of time.

We get 25lb boxes at work for cheap for blast cabinet but it's so full of dust I haven't bothered trying it.harbor freight has 25lb boxes in different grit for $30 but it might be full of dust like we get at work idk? Been buying Frankfort arsenal stuff for awhile now but it can be dusty compared to some of the other stuff used years ago.i think Lyman stuff was good and clean if I remember correctly I clean my brass to help preserve reloading dies.ive had brass get scratched up pretty good running dirty brass through my 308 dies that's seen lots of use.luckily a good thorough cleaning of dies and all is well .I don't want dust, dirt whatever on outside of my brass or inside case necks. I like using old school tumblers with walnut and corn cob cause they leave most of the carbon in case necks compared to wet cleaning for consistent neck tension seating bullets but get outside clean for your dies.usually lightly brush inside of case necks Range brass definitely needs tumbling or at least cleaning with dawn and hot water to not ruin your dies. I might check out the pet bedding though

Guess y'all never buy once fired dirty brass or pick up range brass covered in sand and dirt.alot of bad info gets passed along with people not going into detail on intended use big difference in different shooting disciplines prepping brass.not everyone is firing brass out of a bolt gun going right back into a box blurting out short answers doesn't help folks who don't know.i like to help folks with info if I can.been doing this a long time. You can't stuff a dirt covered brass into your die! Go ahead if you want There's always someone doing something different than you know about or have experience in You might be loading for your one 7-08 and he might be loading 13 different cartridges.but going the extra mile will never hurt .I don't want to shove dirty brass in my guns

I clean my brass even though it is an extra step and a PITA at times. But it's simply a vanity thing and does NOTHING to improve performance where it counts.

I bet you'd rather have highly polished brass going into your 9mm self defense pistol.after they highly polished the feed ramp for that very reason.kinda what I'm getting at
