Work sure, work well I'd want a bigger bullet. Not to go all Magnumitis Goatkiller on ya Frankie but a SD of only 185 on a 125 grain match jacketed bullet over 2500 fps sounds Grenadish. Reading the comments it's made for .300 Blk so I know if you pushed it bad things would happen.
Only hits count.

Try the 130 gr ballistic tips or the Barnes 110 gr TTSX if you want to hot rod your 30 30. But like Dave said, the very low SD of lightweight bullets may mean you won't get an exit.

It would work great! The SST isn't a varmint bullet. a 30-30 isn't going to push it past 2500 fps enough to make a difference if at all depending on load.

My boy and I shoot 125 gr BTs in 308s.. using its starting velocity charges. Never a problem killing deer. I think SSTs are similar pills.
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

Try the Hornady 160 Ftx in that 30/30 spendy but a legit 250 yard deer killer. These are straight up deer slayers. If you shoot a deer with one and can't find a blood trail, call Stevie Wonder to find it.

My old 1967 JM Marlin 30-30 LOVES 150gr Barnes wide hollow points on top of Leverevolution powder. . Very near a clover-leaf printer…not everytime, but easily MOA. I try to outfit my leverguns with the best scope I can afford, with most having Kahles scopes on them. But the old 30-30 shoots so stinking well with a cheap as crap Simmon’s scope…if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!
Also, several of my 30-30’s like the 170grn flat point Boolits I cast, powder coat, & size. If any of y’all want to try some out, I’ll make you up a test batch from wheelweight lead (better penetration) or very soft lead that mushrooms well.

A Barnes 125 hot-rodded in a single shot 30-30 would be nasty. On the gel-block tests I’ve done with the Barnes 125’s turned up (or most copper solid type bullets), instead of mushrooming…the front detaches and throws fliying saw blades while the remaining rearward section punches on through.
If you want to heat some up and see what they do on gel blocks, hit me up and we’ll try to get together and see what they do. I’ll learned a crapload about bullets impacts, expansion rates, bullets that totally disintegrate (blow up about 4-6” in). I won’t go into it too much, but see is believing. The “accepted” mushroom rates and bullet performances aren’t all correct, and I’ll leave it at that. I’d dig seeing what your souped up 30-30 loads would do if you want to try them on some reusable gel blocks. (I don’t have the crazy expensive one time use pig-fat blocks as us by most manufacturers…just some reusable ones that work pretty darn good)

A sierra 125 grain prohunter out of a single shot 3030 would be interesting.

A sierra 125 grain prohunter out of a single shot 3030 would be interesting. Ain't never played with a 30-30 single shot. But 120's are hell out of a 7-30 waters
