I have a few acres of planted cherry bark red oaks. The privet needs some attention. I thought about bushhogging and then spray with glyphosate when the stems start greening up. First, will gly impact the oaks, which are about 10 inches plus DBH. Second, what rate should I broadcast with a boomless sprayer? Some of the privet has gotten over 12 feet tall. Do I need to try and ride through with the hand sprayer on my 50 gallon sprayer or will that hurt the oaks? I know it will take multiple applications to get it back under control. Thanks in advance.
Don't give up, don't ever give up!

I sprayed mine like you are describing at 2.5 ounces to the gallon. It won’t hurt the oaks.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Glyphosate at 5% or Triclopyr (Garlon 3A) but can't remember the rate of the top of my head. As long as you don't get it on the foliage, you're good.
"Cull" is just another four letter word...

Basal bark treatment with triclopyr would be my go to if the privet is that tall.
