Been sitting since 6:30 in a shooting house looking over a large green field in Pickens County. Rain is starting to pick up, gonna sit until 2:30 then head home.

What Caliber is that Ruger? Looks like a 10-22. Nice looking rifle.

He didn’t bolt like he was slammed hit, just kicked and ran off. I waited about 10 minutes to calm my nerves and went to find him.

Got to the area where he was standing and no blood, no hair. I looked for an hour and found nothing. I backed out and called CNC. We’re gonna try him after church. I’m pretty bummed but maybe we will find him. Or maybe a clean miss.

Mule kick…. You hit him. I’ve never seen a deer mule kick that wasn’t hit. Good luck this afternoon with the dog.

Marsh, our dog (Killer Attack Dog) won’t eat if we’re not home either. Crazy.

Just climbed up in a shooting house. I burned my place yesterday. Not sure how this will pan out between the rain coming and the burn. Hope to catch one slipping through, checking things out.

Got my son in a shooting house trying to get him one. Hopefully they will pay more attention to the corn pile than all the grunting going on. Hopefully the rain is loud enough they can’t hear the grunt call. He hasn’t figured out that more is not always better but hey you never know.

My son and I are at my place down the road. Let us know if you get lucky and need a hand.

Had a smaller 8 come out. Passed on it. Then 2 big spikes and a doe. None of which are what we are looking for.

I’ve had a few mule kick and never touched them. Most of the time a good mule kick is money. However, that’s not always the case.

I feel good about me missing. We searched a better part of 20+ acres and Otis never even got excited. I just had to be sure. I shot my gun today and it’s on. I think I shot under him. I really appreciate Harold coming out.

Bummer. Maybe you’ll get him before the season ends, which would make for a great ending!
