How long is a press expected to last? What usually fails and what are the signs of a worn out or failing press?

Just wondering because I'm still using a Rockchucker of unknown age that I acquired in 2008. I load for hunting and plinking, not concerned with benchrest accuracy, but I do like tight groups and reliability. Sometimes I wonder if I am missing out and should upgrade.

A single stage I don't think you can wear out mine is close to 30 years old and has loaded ain't no telling how many rounds.
I don't think the actual press has a relation to accuracy, dies, die adjustment, powder measuring, that's a different story.

Thanks AR1220. Good to know, that's a long service life.

It's very hard to wear out a press

Keep your booger hooker off the bang switch.

Yep. I've got a Rockchucker I bought in 2007 that I know is from the 80s. Take it apart from time to time to clean the soot from spent primers off and give it a light coat of oil to moving parts. Doubt I'll ever wear it out.

Lyman orange crush from 1990 I brush the dust oil the ram and it still works. Have a loading buddy still using his grandpa's Rcbs from 1972.

I've been running a Rock Chucker for over 40 year and loaded 10's of thousands of rounds and it is still going strong!
