At first glance - I say that deer mature - but pics can fool you - do u hav more pics or do u know the deer ? His legs do seem a little long - he may not b as old as I think - would want to see other pics

Somebody on Aldeer shot one that look lot like this and later he said it was 3 - this deer looks like his twin - I said that deer he shot was mature

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self
We need prayer for our country now more than ever

I know him. He’s a different looking animal than our 3yr olds.

But I like that my youth hunters are being very thoughtful before pulling the trigger

I’d wait, patience pays off and makes killing a good one that much more meaningful

I’m pretty proud that I’ve helped grow a group of young hunters who show great trigger restraint and are keenly interested in protecting our young bucks. I just thought this was a funny example of where he wasn’t exactly sure what he was looking at and took a picture of a mature deer (through his binoculars) to ask.

Ours have restrictions and they still kill plenty and have a great time. Heck I’ve given the green light on a couple bucks they chose not to shoot. It’s quite rewarding putting a kid in a stand and trusting their judgement. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I disagree with the part about letting youth hunters shoot whatever makes them happy. Most kids would love to shoot whatever buck they see. Or doe. You have to teach kids how letting deer grow works. They have to learn early that letting young bucks walk is worth it in the end. If you let them shoot whatever they want as a youth, it’s hard to expect them to just turn that off as a young adult and start letting young bucks walk. Just my opinion though.

Pwyse I agree however if the young hunter hasn’t killed a racked buck at all or has only killed one racked buck I see nothing wrong with allowing them to harvest deer like this to build confidence and stay fired up about hunting. Once they have killed a couple start molding them into letting younger deer walk and grow to older mature deer. I personally think the mentality of drilling into young hunter of only taking older quality deer from the beginning is not a wise practice. You want to the youth fired up about hunting all the while letting them mature into only harvesting mature deer. We all have to remember quality and mature is different from person to person.

Plenty of grown men in alabama that have never known what trigger restraint is, nor ever will. But lord knows that you can’t mention that, you’ll be chastised for that one.
