I know its either too early for 23-24 season and too late for the 22-23 season, but if anyone has any leads on a good, family oriented club and/or lease within a hour of Spanish Fort, Please let me know!!!

I am currently hunting on a lease in Stockton and there just aren't any deer there. The land is pretty but I believe it was over hunted in the past. My kids are quickly tiring of going and sitting in the stand day in a day out without even seeing any does. I'd like a place that would let us shoot 2-3 does a season, but also have a good chance of seeing something with some horns! I know there are good clubs and good deer in my area. I am willing to pay the dues on time. I am also willing to go out and put the work in to help plant, trim trees, etc. I am willing to put out feeders and keep them corned up. Let me know if you guys know of anything, it would be much appreciated!

Budget would be around $2500 per year, maybe more maybe less.

I'd like to stay inside of an hour drive, if that's even possible. Anything further than that I'd have to have some sort of sleeping accommodations.

Just based off some of my experience I think to find something within an hour that has the deer you are wanting to see you are going to be paying a little more than that. I would think around 4000. My old club was about an hour and twenty minutes from mobile and it was 5200. Had a good camp house though right on a lake with good fishing. Saw a ton of deer and killed 2/3 does per year. 13 guys on 3500 acres. New club I just joined is 45 minutes from mobile. 15 guys on 3800 acres. Im paying 6000 for that but its really nice. Comes with a big camphouse, caretaker on site, lots of deer ducks and turkeys, walk in cooler to hang game, great road system, access to a lake and just cant beat the location. You have to remember that in this part of the world that turkey hunting is going to be driving some of these prices too so maybe you can find a group that will let you pay for deer rights only if turkeys arent your thing. Seems like a lot of guys I know in other clubs in the area are paying similar. All to say I think that finding something like you are looking for is going to be 4000 dollar range but it could be hard to find.

Rebel,
Thank you for the reply, that's really good information to know. I had no idea there were clubs out there that were that expensive, I also didn't know there were clubs out there with that nice of accommodations. I guess I'll just have to see what's out there.

You’ll likely not get “invited” to join one of those close clubs even if you have the money. They just don’t have memberships that open up that often and when they do the memberships are selective.

If you can or are willing to spend $4k plus then get in touch with Gavin on here. He has a nice club in Thomasville that would be a 2 hour drive from SF. Plenty deer and low memberships.

rcmay,
Admittedly I am paying a lot, but we use the place a lot, its a good group and my family loves it. There are for sure better deals out there. Its just a matter of finding them. Honestly I think the best way to find connections to land and clubs in this area is to get involved with Mobile County Wildlife or the local AWF chapter. You will meet a lot of good people and make connections that will pay off in the future when you are looking for land.
