Riggs got to work tonight although we should have saved ourselves some time and recovered the deer right at dark. Shot site looked good but after the deer made it 150-200 yds and we bumped a deer in the area we were blood trailing we pulled out. 2 hrs later Riggs found him 40 yds from where we pulled off at. But he needed the work so we will take it.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!
Only somewhat related but thought y'all would enjoy this video of some guys tracking a huge buck shot in Mississippi. Seems like the tracker in the video is the CNC of Mississippi

Everyone does things differently but I’m not for sure what the shooter was doing on those bays….. Once you spot a clear line of sight to the deer, that’s where I hit my tone button on the Garmin to clear the dog and bring them back to my side…….instead of trying to get a clear shot with the dog still on bay…..The deer will usually just keep standing there as long as you remain still and don’t cause a bunch of commotion.
That’s the story you read about with the deer being "bayed 4 times and chased for a mile"……..You can see that its obviously a very hurt deer and not nearly as dramatic as its sometimes perceived to be when reading about it. A side note……that camera man would have gotten a lot better footage if he would stayed in the shooters back pocket filming over his shoulder.
