I was told the water is public and the bottom was privately held by Alabama power. Pretty much means your feet can’t be on the bottom when hunting, Boat or blind only. You have to be 100 yds away from a house before you are legal to hunt. I’ve shot several geese and a few ducks. Just make sure your boat is not in motion when you pull the trigger. Even if the motor is off and you are still moving with the momentum. Drifting in the wind is fine. There are some back sloughs that produce but don’t go in with high hopes.

I’ve done it with little luck. As others have said they will drop the water so you can forget back sloughs. It’s mostly open water type hunting. A boat with blind and a bunch of dekes and you might scratch a few. To answer your question, you have to stay in boat and don’t be near any houses.
