What is overall consensus on this caliber? My wife is short 4' 11" and it is very hard to find a youth model to fit her. I can pick up a 350 legend at my local Walmart. Thinking it would be ok for what we need, kill deer at 100 yds. You can get 150,165 and 180 grain bullets. Interesting read on how this round came about.

It’ll kill a deer. It’s bout like a 30-30.

I just bought one for a woods gun but haven’t shot a deer with it yet.

I bought the Ruger American ranch rifle in this chamber and put a low power scope on it. I use mine when I'm tracking on account of it being short and I don't get hung up with it.most of the shots I needed it for are close 5-50 yards but it will bug hole at a 100 with blue box federal 180gr It's loud as hell with that lil ole short barrel. Without much recoil. But I wouldn't be scared to hunting with as a woods gun out to a 100 yards and I takes ar mags, ammo is fairly easy to find and ain't bad expensive. And lots of states allow straight walled cartridges during black powder so that was a another plus

They tear up a bunch of meat if you hit them in the shoulder. I'm about to do a european mount on one that when I skinned it I saw the shot tore the heck out of the front half. So, aim behind the shoulder. But, it is a killer. I think that is 3 or 4 for the guy that owns it. After seeing the performance Id have no concerns using a 350 legend.

Edit: I chose it every time over a 243.

I got a steel gong in the backyard. First shot with the 350 knocked the gong off. I was like “yep, it’ll do the job”.

265lb boar hog. One shot with 180gr soft points dropped in his tracks. No issues with the 350. [Linked Image]

Savage makes it on the Axis compact platform and may be a good fit for your wife. I have been considering switching over to the 350 from my Savage 220 slug gun. I have had zero luck finding Remington Accutips or any 20 gauge sabot for that matter, so it may be time for a straight wall solution.

Thanks for all the input, I am sold. I can get the gun with a scope for 339.00 and they have the Winchester ammo on the shelf for 28.00 a box.

So is this gun legal to shoot during muzzle loader since it is a straight wall cartridge? Same for areas that require a slug gun?

I heard it came about for the state that allow straight wall cart. Great move by Ruger to get a lot of business up here around midwest.

I'm in the process of building my 6 yr old one in the AR platform. The AR platform offered the adjustability i needed for him and his small frame, didn't necessarily want him shooting a semi auto but its the best fit. I chose the 350 over other calibers such as the 6.5 and 243 just due to the increased bullet size to give him some leniency and less recoil. 150 yd shot is more than enough for his age and the properties we hunt. Hoping to get all the parts in this week so we can get it sighted in.

First hand experience here.... I was skeptical. I like a cartridge with some horsepower myself and I'm not into soft shooting really anything.

I used a Ruger AR in .350 Legend last season with some kids and they piled up some deer/hogs.

Now.. I'm NOT skeptical. I will have to admit I was impressed. Most deer/hogs have been DRT. I would say on par with a 30-30 which is also a well performing and very manageable deer cartridge for any grown ass man including kids and wives.

Shooting Hornady Factory American Whitetail 170's. I don't think the kids ever realized they were not shooting a AR in .223. Never mentioned recoil or anything just smiles ear to ear.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.
