I am contemplating purchasing one of these. Either the 3.5-10x40 firedot or the 3.5x10x50. There is a 2oz difference. Going to mount it on a model7 in talley lightweights. What’s your opinions n about either scope I am undecided at this point. Open to all suggestions for a light weight illuminated dot recticle

Of those two I'd go with the 40mm.

50mm on a 7 just doesn't look right, IMO. I've got a 3.5-10x40 VX3i in talley lightweights on my M7 SS 6mm and it's about perfect.

Yeah, one of those big Hubble's on a mountain rifle looks like you have a rifle mounted to a scope instead of a scope mounted on a rifle.

I have a 3-9X40 Nikon on my Ruger 7-08 compact and I have Zeiss 2-8x42 30mm on my 308 Ruger compact. I think a 50mm would require taller rings, which just makes looking through the scope a PITA for me.

Y'all mean you don't want it to look like this!lol
That actually dropped a little weight or close to same cause I dropped the steel base and rings and went to aluminum .
It will never be lightweight with the aluminum bedding block but it is very steady and shoots great! But I get it.
I like sleek, slender and lightweight myself but these with a little weight are easy to hold steady
Got my lightweight stuff also

You'll be happy bustin. Big fan of the talley lightweights. What caliber is this Model 7?

.308 16” threaded barrel with a triggertech trigger. Already have one for my boy in SS 7mm08 Timney trigger, talleys and a firedot VXR 3x9x40

Looks great Rob. I bet she shoots as good as she looks. You’ll have to give us a good review on that scope. I’m interested to see how they measure up to the VXR’s they replaced.

Well I guess this little set up is going to stay with me for a long time. My son killed his first deer with it last week, a nice wide 7 point. We had a great few days at deer camp and he was the king. Lol

I’m looking at these as well. I got to find something to put on this Ruger Hawkeye I just bought.

No real opinion on the scope, though I've always had good luck with VX-2 and up stuff from Leupold. I do however much prefer a 40mm scope over a 50. I like a scope mounted low and like a good cheek weld that I don't get with a 50mm scope.
