Give me some recommendations for ammo in .308 that you've had good luck with.

I can't help you with the .308 but I haven't found anything that my .270 lite doesn't shoot well. Picked up some blue box federal 130gr yesterday and shot it with a buddy of mine. We shot 12 rounds in a row (with a few minor scope adjustments) and was able to hold the last 3 round group pretty damn tight A 100yds. There were three fliers out of the 12 rounds but I blame them on Joe since he can't hit the broad side of a barn whistle

My sons T3 light is one ragged hole with Hornady Customs with 150 gr SSTs. They'll kill deer dead too. wink

Hornady ammo has done very well in every gun I've shot them in. For whitetails I use the Superformance 150gr. SST's in my .308.

I zeroed it with Federal Premium Gold Match 168 gr BTHP today and my last three holes were touching. Is this a good bullet for deer? I've read mixed reviews.

I believe Federal Premium Gold Match 168 gr BTHP are made for target shooting not hunting but I could be wrong.

X2, I shoot the Superformance 150 SSTs , the kid shoots the Customs with 150 SSTs. Both shoot and kill well.

Almost everything I've read about the FGMM says it's a terrible hunting bullet. Its a shame since I have over 500 rounds in the stash.

The Federal Match bullet is not a good hunting round General. They're too unpredictable when they hit flesh. They're made for punching paper. I shot a coyote down twice last season at 75 yards. Joker got up and left the field. I didn't bother to blood trail him. The first shot was head on. The second shot was broadside while he was hauling tail.

Thanks guys. I'll keep 'em for defense and try some of the Hornady's.

Don't have a 308 but my Tikka T-3 25-06 loves Hornady interlocks.

We have three different model .308's by tikka and by far for target shooting the 168 gr sierra match king hpbt loaded by federal in there gold match line is the best ...for hunting they make a 165 gr game king and two of my guns will shoot .5 inch at 100 yards all day with both rounds some better groups with the match kings....my best with the match kings has been 13/16 of an inch group at 300 yards ....good luck with what ever you try there are a lot of great bullets out there and your bound to find one your gun likes..
