With Hawaii costs doubling, I am about to forego that plan for next next spring and instead do separate trips for anniversary and some Rio hunting before our opener. Want to hit South Texas for their opener on 18 March after I get back from the Caribbean. Who has the land hookup and is perhaps interested in coming with? Haybale and I have one potential private land hookup, but not 100% sure on it being available just yet. Looking for options.

Why are Hawaii cost doubling? Not sure what all is contributing. The resorts my wife and I were considering last spring (decided against it for a second time for March 2021 because of their ridiculous Covid rules) though have essentially doubled. For the same $, we can go all out in the Caribbean for 10 days with way more amenities AND I can go hunt a Rio in Texas after I get back from there though. I honestly may never go to Hawaii with the current costs, unless it is a hunting only focused trip with multiple species pursued, no tag-along of the bride, and way cheaper lodging options. For now, that liberal place can take what they have to offer and shove it.

South Texas hunts seem to be going the way of the Osceola. With less and less opportunities to hunt in early to mid March, it isn’t crazily surprising.
