Any assistance would be appreciated, I planted a new garden in a new spot this year that was very rocky, had 12 tomatoe plants and I thought they would be loaded....they all grew very well, some to 5-6 ft tall and all look healthy, but they didn't have a lot of blooms. I did get a few tomatoes, but for the size of the plants, i thought they would produce a whole lot more....am I doing something wrong? Also had zuchinni plants that continue to bloom, but haven't produced a single vegetable....

I'm having similar issues, I think maybe too much nitrogen but I'm no expert.

Did you add any fertilizer? Sounds like they may possibly be lacking in P&K.....

This is the first year that I've had short tomato plants but have gobs of tomatoes hanging in clusters off them. I've pruned and been sure to add enough calcium at planting in the form of gypsum and then added a balanced fertilizer at bloom set and after the first fruit picking. They're still making and look healthy but are definitely not near as tall as they've grown in the past.

Are your plants hybrids or heirloom?

Is that something you can fix after the fact? Like adding more potassium or calcium now, or is it too late and just do it better next year?

I would think if the plants are still green and healthy it’s not too late to try calcium and some of the other suggestions. The zucchini sounds like a lack of pollinators/ bees

\ I didn't add any fertilizer at all, a little epsom salt early on....I was afraid to prune them or cut them back to much....

I will try the calcium to see what happens, some of them are still green and some of them are fading out.....I have bees, matter a fact, I have cucumber plants right next to the zucchini and they have done okay, better than the the zucchini.....I am going to fertilize the entire area real heavy before I do any fall planting..

Mainly suckers, but also branches that are near the ground or have leaves hanging near the ground. This is to keep dirt from splashing up on the leaves which could lead to disease issues.

You bet. In a twist of irony, I guess my plants must've heard me talking about them and decided to show me a thing or two. They've produced great thus far with lots of good looking fruit, but I think the heat and high humidity is beginning to take a small toll on a few of them. I had to pull one this morning that looked like it was starting to get some kind of blight. I've been on a spraying program with pyrethrin and was able to fend off the horn worms and other insects. I've still got about 8 plants that look pretty good and just planted 3 more determinate Celebrity's after I pulled some green bean plants up this week.

Regularly planted a second planting in the Auburn area around this time and had a good crop. You’ll also have a mess of unripe green tomatoes for chow chow, relish, pickles, etc.

This will be the first year I’ve planted a second bunch. I did opt for a determinate hybrid with some disease resistance for the second go round.
