How is it possible or is it possible to use the navionics card on an iPad just to study the maps of a given lake? Inquiring minds want to know.

There's an app. No card needed. You can get it on your phone as well.

I have both Lakemaster & Navionics map cards. User reviews for the Humminbird Fishsmart app are not very good & the Navionics PC being a little better. My whole purpose in this is to get or purchase an app on my iPad to study lakes before I go fishing….the offshore summer & winter stuff.

I haven’t had any trouble with my Fish Smart. I’ve used it for 4-5 years for lake study, to download maps to cards, and to update my units. I tried the Navionics maps when I had Lowrance units, but my eyes just prefer the LakeMaster maps. If you’d rather look at Lake Master maps, but don’t like the app, there’s a PC program you can get but it’s $$$. I can’t remember the name of it right offhand. I don’t think you can update Humminbird units via Bluetooth using the app any longer. Thats where a lot of the negative reviews were coming from. As far as just studying your lakes, I can’t imagine you having any trouble. I haven’t. Good luck!

Thanks CD. I'll prolly download both then purchase the one I like best. As far as lakecards go I like the Lakemaster better than the Navionics. My birds are gen2 so there may not be much I can do to them.

After downloading the Fishsmart app, I see Humminbird still doesn’t list RL Harris(Wedowee) in it’s map line. Now I remember why I bought the Navionics card.
