Occasionally folks are looking for a good means of screening stand entrances, splitting plots, etc., and I have had great success with something not many people have heard about called Teosinate. Its an ancient corn relative with a cool little cob and a small hard seed that is perfect for birds. I planted it 3-4 years ago in a screening/field perimter mix and it has not only come back on its own but thrived. Gets 8'+ high, gets thick but with space down at ground level for critters, stands well and is absolutely fantastic Quail habitat. Mow it in spring, and its back. I use it to split my big field and along field perimeters. When I get up next week I am going to figure out a McGyver method of some sort to harvest the seed and expand it to other areas, particularly stand entrances.

Gets 8’ tall I just disced dragged seeded and dragged. It would be perfect for a culti packer because it’s small seed What time of year do you plant it? I just clearcut an area that has 3 food plots on it and I’m gonna have to do something like this to screen my entrance and exit route.
