I just got my summer fields tested and am glad I did. I believe someone has already mentioned how much soils can vary even in the same field and my tests flat proved that right. My main summer plot is 7 acres total and divided into a 4 acre North part and 3 acre South part simply by a road, there were 5-6 samples taken from each side and mixed.. Only real difference is the South part had beans on it about 3 years before North part, which was just fallow. They are below.

The tests are below:

Prettty major difference in both lime and fertilizer requirements, which I would not have known about otherwise. North got 1.5 tons of lime last week the south 3 tons. Will also be able to adjust fertilizer and save a little cash also.

Good info. I tested all of my fields a few years ago and got the sort of variation I expected.

One thing I would suggest is to take more than 5 or 6 samples per field. Some places have said to take at least 20 samples per field, but I always thought it should depend on the size of the field and how much variation in soil type you have in that field.
