Got some traps dyed and waxed. Going to make my first ever coyote sets this weekend. Maybe a dumb one will find one of my traps and accidentally step on

Bed them right so they won’t move
Place 9-12” center of pan to center of bait hole if you’re using dirthole sets
Cover with 1/2-3/4” dirt

When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself

I was thinking about trying half of them as step down dirt hole sets. Have you done any before?

Best of luck to you when you go out, Im still working on getting the first "whatever kind of critter" to even get close enough to my traps so I can see it's footprint in the dirt. Im not giving up though smile

Many times
I particularly like this type set for bobcats but it’ll catch dogs too

Good luck!.......I’ve found that sometimes it seems really easy and then other times they just don’t want to act right and will make you feel like a fool.....Probably a lot like turkey hunting. grin

Well I set 5 of them yesterday and caught 1 possum so far. This is the first time I’ve ever set these type. I’ve only done the DP traps in the past. It was a lot harder than I thought but I got faster as I went. One mistake I made when waxing the traps… I waxed the anchors too and one of them was full of wax. So when I drove it in the ground the driver wouldn’t come out. I had to pull the anchor out and start over. Lesson learned!

Critters must be moving more on these dark nights......I've been picking up another coon or possum about every three days up until last night......I snagged 2 coons and a possum just last night.....all males
