What is the best way to trap a groundhog? They are staying under a little storage building that has all but totally collapsed on our neighbors property. I do have permission to be on their property and no one lives there anymore. I have a couple cage type traps that I’ve used to catch coons and opossums. Not sure if the traps are big enough for an adult groundhog. These parents are Boone and Crockett size groundhogs. I have done some trapping but I am definitely not a professional.

Only ground hog I've ever seen in Alabama in my life was when I worked at a apartment complex in Clanton. Used to watch a few eat Kudzu there . At first it took awhile to figure out what they were

I have recently dealt with trapping groundhogs that were under our house. You need a large live trap, not the small ones. The best bait is cantaloupe!! Seriously! They love it. The first one we trapped was an older large groundhog and mean as all get out! He tried to bite us and pooped at us. We took him off and let him go in a wooded area. He climbed that trap and shot out so fast, I thought we were going to get bitten!!!

The second one met my side by side .410. We decided we did not want to go through the trap business again . Way too stressful. Good luck.

Be kind to one another and tell the ones you love that you love them often. We never know what tomorrow will bring.

Caught one today with cantaloupe. Went to the park down the street to let him go. Local PD was there so made sure to ask if it was ok before. He said he didn’t care. All the local yuppies thought it was cute and took pictures. Just glad he’s out from under my driveway.

If any critter is enough of a nuisance for me to trap it, it ain't getting let go. It gets a one way trip to train station, no exceptions

You can usually smell them when close to their den. Nasty bastage.

Walked by the window last week and had to do a double take ... had one standing flat footed under my feeder eating corn... I think he saw me about the time I showed up on the back porch with 22 mag ..... maybe next time!

Exactly
